We want everyone to be able to play Buddy Towers. The iOS app and the website aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA where they apply.
Built-in features
- VoiceOver. Pads, towers, controls and results have spoken labels, and the countdown, rejected moves and finishes are announced.
- Shape markers. A shape beside each crew name, so buddies can be told apart without color. On automatically when Differentiate Without Color is on in iOS settings, or turn it on in Settings → Controls.
- Color. Every crew's colors are checked to stay distinct for the common types of color blindness.
- Reduce motion. Follows the iOS setting, or turn it on in the game. Animations are removed or shortened, and the hangar's ambient motion stops.
- Text size. Text follows the system text size, up to the largest accessibility sizes, with the game board kept on screen.
- Haptics. Can be turned off in Settings → Controls.
- No time pressure in solo. Solo missions have a timer to beat but no time limit.
Known limitations
- Live invasions are races, so they are timed by nature.
- Drag-and-drop moves have a tap alternative: tap a tower, then tap where to land.
